Alma’s Heather Keenan Tabbed MIAA Player of the Week

ALMA, Mich. - Alma sophomore guard Heather Keenan (Charlotte) scored 31 points in a pair of conference games. In a 77-71 victory over Adrian she scored 12 points, making 5-of-12 shots, including 1-for-3 from three-point range. She had three rebounds, two assists and three steals. She followed with a career-high, 19-point effort in a 75-63 loss to Olivet. She was 6-for-12 from the floor, including 1-for-2 on three-pointers and 6-for-10 in free throws. She had four rebounds, five assists, and a steal.

Keenan has scored in double figures in each of her last four games and on six occasions this season. She is currently averaging 9.9 points per game and nearly three assists per contest, starting every game of the season for the Maroon and Cream.

Keenan and the Scots are 7-7 on the season and 3-4 in MIAA contests. Alma returns to the hardwood Wednesday (Jan. 17) when it hosts Hope College at 7:30 p.m. at Cappaert Gymnasium.

Charlie Goffnett

One of the top Division III coaches in the nation, Charlie Goffnett has built the Alma women's basketball program into a national powerhouse. With three MIAA titles, five NCAA Tournament berths and one national championship under his belt, Goffnett is one of the most accomplished coaches in the nation.

Charlie Goffnett began coaching the women's golf team in 1990. As head coach, he has established a competitive program that is always on or near the top of the MIAA standings. In 1997, the Scots captured their third MIAA title under Goffnett's guidance.
