Alma Stumbles at home to Hope

Darcie Philp's Double-Double not enough as Scots fall to Hope 71-49

ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team struggled mightily against the Dutch falling on Senior Night at Cappaert Gymnasium. The loss ended a four game winning streak for Alma. The Scots got off to a slow start, going the first seven minutes of the game without scoring. From there on, they battled turnovers and poor shooting in the first half which could not be overcome. Darcie Philp (Ubly/Ubly) contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Scots in both categories in the final home game of her career.

All players for both teams played in the game.

The Scots fall to 12-10 (7-8) while Hope goes to 23-1 (15-0)

Alma's women round out the regular season Saturday, February 18th at Calvin. The tip-off is scheduled for 12:45p.m.

Charlie Goffnett

One of the top Division III coaches in the nation, Charlie Goffnett has built the Alma women's basketball program into a national powerhouse. With three MIAA titles, five NCAA Tournament berths and one national championship under his belt, Goffnett is one of the most accomplished coaches in the nation.

Charlie Goffnett began coaching the women's golf team in 1990. As head coach, he has established a competitive program that is always on or near the top of the MIAA standings. In 1997, the Scots captured their third MIAA title under Goffnett's guidance.
