Borcherding Named MIAA Player of the Week

ALMA, Mich. - Alma senior guard Ashley Borcherding (Millington) averaged 19 points as the Scots won two of three league games last week. In a 90-82 loss to Albion, she scored 18 points. She followed with 14 points in a 72-61 victory over Tri-State and ended the week with a 25 point performance in a 75-55 victory over Kalamazoo. For the week she made 21-of-34 shots, including 12-for-24 from three-point range. She averaged 34 minutes on the floor over the three games.

The Scots return to action Jan. 11 when they host Adrian at 7:30 p.m.

Charlie Goffnett

One of the top Division III coaches in the nation, Charlie Goffnett has built the Alma women's basketball program into a national powerhouse. With three MIAA titles, five NCAA Tournament berths and one national championship under his belt, Goffnett is one of the most accomplished coaches in the nation.

Charlie Goffnett began coaching the women's golf team in 1990. As head coach, he has established a competitive program that is always on or near the top of the MIAA standings. In 1997, the Scots captured their third MIAA title under Goffnett's guidance.
