Peacock and Philp Come Up Big For Scots
ALMA, Mich. - Alma College women’s basketball (8-9, 3-8 MIAA) came on strong in the second half behind a 27-point, 14-rebound performance by Alma junior Katey Peacock (Gowen/Greenville) and an 18-point, 11-rebound outing by junior transfer Darcie Philp (Ubly).Trailing by as many as 12 points midway through the first half, the Scots battled back to tie things up with three minutes to go in the first before heading to the locker room down by three.
Out of the half, both teams battled for the advantage as the lead changed hands three times in the first four minutes of the second stanza. Once the Scots claimed the lead, though, they never relinquished it. Peacock went on a tear, scoring 19 of her 27 points in the final 20 minutes.
Erica Philp (Ubly) added 15 points and eight boards while Michelle Dettling (Chelsea) added 13 points along with two assists and two blocks. Ashley Borcherding (Millington) added 11 points and a season-high nine assists to round out scoring for the Scots.
