Scots Win 77-71 in Overtime Thriller
ALMA, Mich. - Alma College women's basketball picked up a 77-71 overtime win against Saint Mary's, for their second win of the MIAA season. With the win, the Scots improve to 7-6 on the season, 2-5 in the MIAA while Saint Marys falls to 6-9, 2-5 in MIAA play.Freshman Erica Philp (Ubly) had 13 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double while Katey Peacock (Gowen/Greenville) returned from a shoulder injury to score 25 points to lead the Maroon and Cream in the win. Michelle Dettling (Chelsea) added 15 points in the victory. Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic) chipped in with 11 points.
The Belles carried a 36-31 lead into the half before Alma snuck back to force overtime, outscoring the Belles 15-9 in the extra stanza.
Alma next hosts Adrian on Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
