Alma Defeats University of Windsor, 56-40

ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball (5-3, 0-2 MIAA) team defeated the University of Windsor Lancers Thursday night, 56-40, in Alma. The game does not count toward overall record of team statistics as a Canadian team must play at least half of its contest against U.S. opponents to count, per NCAA regulations.

Katey Peacock (Gowen/Greenville) led the Scots with 15 points and four rebounds while Erica Philp (Ubly) added 13 points and eight rebounds in the effort. Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic) chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds in just over 20 minutes of action for the Scots.

The Lancers were led by Tatiana Danelon with 11 points and four rebounds.

Alma returns to action Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m. to open the conerence season. The Maroon and Cream play host to Albion College. The Brits enter the contest after going an undefeated 8-0 in the month of December with an overall record of 11-1.

Thirty-four percent of Alma students participate in intercollegiate athletics. Alma College competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the oldest existing athletic conference in the nation.
