Box Score

ALMA, Mich. -
If there were any questions about how the Scots would replace last year's MIAA MVP Karen Hall, they were answered tonight as freshman center Erica Philp (Ubly) stepped up and led Alma in both scoring and minutes played in a 68-43 win over Concordia University.

The Scots' shooters were on fire tonight as they managed to shoot 50 percent from the three-point arc and 94 percent from the charity stripe.  Alma dominated their opponents in every statistical category including racking up eight more assists than Concordia and out-shooting them by seven percent from the field.

Philp led the way for the Scots with 18 points on 5-for-8 from the field while grabbing five rebounds.  Fellow freshman Ashley Matuzak (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic Central) added 12 points, four assists, and six rebounds in the game.  Senior Michelle Dettling (Chelsea) had a great all-around game for the Scots, scoring 10 points, dropping three assists, making three steals, and leading the team with seven total rebounds.  Junior Katey Peacock (Gowen/Greenville) added 10 points for the Scots.

The Maroon and Cream next take the floor Saturday, Dec. 4 at Kalamazoo College with a tip-off time of 3 p.m.
