ALBION, Mich. - The annual MIAA coaches pre-season tele-conference was held Thursday, Nov. 4. Calvin was selected to finish first in the poll with four first-place votes while Albion was voted second and Hope was third. Each of those teams won at least 20 games last season. The Scots were chosen to finish fifth in the league this season.

1. Calvin
2. Albion
3. Hope
4. Kalamazoo
5. Alma
6. Olivet
7. Tri-State
8. Adrian
9. St. Mary’s

Head coach Charlie Goffnett's opening statement follows:
"We have a fairly vetertan group returning. Our big challenge is replacing (2004 MIAA MVP) Karen Hall in the post. We’re not going to do it, so we're looking for some things in practice for some players who can score and rebound the way she did. Maybe there are five or six kids we can have (combine) to replace her. We have a veteran group returning on the perimeter. This group has a lot of experience and have been in the MIAA for a long time and have been through the wars. We have to try to play the post by committee."
