Women's Basketball Assistant Coach Ronn Mott

Ron Mott rejoined the women's basketball coaching staff in the 2004-05 season, after working as an assistant women's basketball coach at the University of Michigan for three years. Mott coached at Alma from 1998-2000, after retiring from 33 years of teaching and coaching boys' and girls' basketball at Okemos High School. As a varsity girl's head coach, Mott participated in four final fours, winning the 1981 Class B State Championship and finishing as State runner-up in 1986.

Mott was inducted into the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan's Hall of Honor for boys' assistant coaches in 1996. In 2000, Mott was inducted into the Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame for head coaches. Mott was also inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Association's hall of Fame and the Greater Lansing Area Hall of Fame in 2002. His wife, Carol, is a retired counselor from Lansing Catholic High School. The Mott's have two children, Christine and Jason and one grandson, Dustin.

 

Alma College’s partnership with the Pine River Superfund Citizen Task Force, an EPA-sanctioned Community Advisory Group (CAG), was selected as a finalist for Michigan’s 2007 Carter Partnership Award. The Task Force is recognized as one of the most influential and active CAGs nationally and as having the largest membership of any CAG in the United States.

Charlie Goffnett

One of the top Division III coaches in the nation, Charlie Goffnett has built the Alma women's basketball program into a national powerhouse. With three MIAA titles, five NCAA Tournament berths and one national championship under his belt, Goffnett is one of the most accomplished coaches in the nation.

Charlie Goffnett began coaching the women's golf team in 1990. As head coach, he has established a competitive program that is always on or near the top of the MIAA standings. In 1997, the Scots captured their third MIAA title under Goffnett's guidance.
