ALMA VOLLEYBALL TEAM TO SCRIMMAGE MICHIGAN ST. CLUB TEAM TONIGHT

The 2008 Alma Women's Volleyball team will host Michigan State's Club team tonight at Cappaert Gymnasium. The scrimmage will begin at 7:00 p.m. and it is a good opportunity for Scots fans to send the Seniors off and to celebrate the past season.

The Scots finished third in the MIAA but was unable to compete in the semi-finals of the league tournament after it was canceled due to a Norovirus at Hope College.

The $10.2 million Hogan Center renovation and building project includes the construction of a new sports arena and convocation center along with renovated locker rooms, athletic training space, natatorium, coaches' offices and classrooms. The "new" Hogan is designed to be Alma College's first LEED-certified building for sustainable construction. The estimated completion date is August 2010.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
