VOLLEYBALL WINS TWO IN THE ZOO

The Alma Women's Volleyball team went to Kalamazoo Friday and came away with two MIAA victories. The Scots defeated host Kalamazoo in the opener 3-1 (25-15,21-25, 27-25,25-21) and then was on the right side of a 3-1 score against Trine in the nightcap (25-15, 25-18, 14-25, 25-21).

The two wins propel the Scots to the top of the MIAA standings (4-0 MIAA, 9-3 overall) with perennial contender Calvin College coming to Alma next Wednesday, September 17. Gametime is set for 6:30 p.m. at Cappaert Gymnasium.

Hannah Hewitt had 51 assists in the KC game and was supported by all of her teammates, including Kelsey Thompson and Kim Gillhespy as both wins were the result of a total team effort.

"We had a very good day today and it was nice to have everyone contribute to the victories," said Head Coach Cheyenne Luzynski. "Calvin will be our biggest challenge thus far as they are a smart team with the history of success. It will test our ability but it gives us a chance to show people our committment to a culture of winning here at Alma. It will be fun."
