Alma VB Splits in first day of tourney

ALMA VOLLEYBALL SPLITS IN WHITEWATER

The Alma Volleyball left town early Friday morning for a tournament in Whitewater (WI) and had a very good day after a very long drive.

Playing the host team after its journey, the Scots dropped three hard-fought contests - 14-25; 16-25; 22-25; but held their own in all three matches.  In the nightcap, Alma defeated Wheaton College 3-2 to end the day's competition.

After winning the first match against Wheaton 25-20, the Scots lost the next two 17-25 and 23-25 before winning the fourth game 25-20.  In the final match of the evening, Alma took control and won by a score of 15-13. 

The squad will play again Saturday and open up the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday, September 3 against MIAA rival Olivet at 6:30 p.m.

 

 

 

Alma College’s teacher preparation program was rated “exemplary” in 2007 following a comprehensive review by the Michigan Department of Education.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
