VOLLEYBALL: Scots Fall in Three Straight to Saint Mary's

The Alma College Volleyball Team traveled to South Bend to take on the Belles of Saint Mary's College and came home with a 0-3 loss. The Scots lost the first game 14-30, but rebounded in the second and third and played competitive volleyball before falling by the scores of 28-30 and 27-30.

Leading the way for the Scots was sophomore Sarah Scow (Roscommon/Roscommon) whose 14 kills and 12 digs both were team highs for Alma College. Freshman setter Hannah Hewitt (Harbor Springs/Harbor Light) had another solid game for the Scots racking up 29 assists, 8 digs, 2 kills, and a service ace. Junior Kim Gillhespy (Cedar Springs/Cedar Springs) also played well for the Scots recording eight kills, three digs, and four service aces.

The busy week for the Scots continues as they will travel to Wittenburg, Ohio for the Border Battle Tournament this weekend. Check back for results.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
