VOLLEYBALL: Scots Fall To Calvin, 3-0

Alma, Mi- The Scots welcomed Calvin College to Cappaert Gymnasium for their home and conference opener and after three hard fought games, Calvin walked away with the 3-0 win (30-23, 30-19, 30-28).

Leading the way for the Scots was sophomore Kelsey Thomspon (Morley/Morley Stanwood) who had 12 kills in the game. Freshman Hannah Hewitt (Harbor Springs/Harbor Light) had 34 assists for the Scots and 10 digs.

The Scots will travel to Ohio this weekend to participate in the Wooster Tournament. Check back for results.

Alma College students report levels of educational experiences and faculty interaction that exceed the national norms by significant amounts, according to the findings of the 2007 National Survey of Student Engagement. In the 2006 study, Alma students reported a level of interaction with faculty that ranked among the top five percent in the nation.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
