TRACK & FIELD: Three Scots Named to All-MIAA Team

Alma, Mi.- When the All-MIAA Teams were released for the 2007 Track & Field season, the Alma College Scots were represented on both the men's and women's teams.

Leading the way for the Scots was junior Kyle Percival (Lansing/Waverly). Kyle runs the 100 meter and 200 meter dash for Alma and has been one of their greatest point winners all season.  At the MIAA Field Day, Percival finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.97 seconds (10.58 in the qualifying round), and finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.95 seconds.  Percival is one of two Alma Track members who have qualified for the Division Three Nationals that will be held in Oshkosh, Wis. later this month.

Freshman Frankie Brun (Oscoda/Culver Academies) was also named to the All-MIAA Team and is headed to nationals. Brun has been an outstanding performer for the Scots all year and recently won the Triple Jump at the Aquinas Invitational, where he jumped 47-9 1/2, beating members of many Division Two schools. At the MIAA Field Day, Brun scored 13 points for the Scots finishing fourth in the Long Jump (21-6) and second in the Triple Jump (46-4). Brun and Percival accounted for 31 of 55 points the Scots scored at the MIAA Field Day.

Senior Tara Bjorne (Manistique/Manistique) received the sole selection to the All-MIAA team for the Scots' women's team. Bjorne managed to excel for Alma while competing at a high level in four different events. Tara racked up 13 points for the Scots at the MIAA Field Day as she finished seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.70 seconds, sixth in the Long Jump (15-11), and second in the Triple Jump (32-10 1/2).  The talented senior also was only four tenths of a second from competing in the finals in the 200 meter dash.

Congratulations on a great 2007 season.
