Scots in Fourth Place Through First Day of MIAA Championships

ALBION, Mich. - Alma College track is in fourth after the first day of competition at the MIAA Championships.

Tara Bjorne qualified for the finals in the 100 meter dash with a fifth place finish in 13.16. Kristina Fuehring advances to the 400 meter dash finals and Kim Sinclair in the 400 hurdles also moves on to finals competition.

In finals action in the high jump, Andrea Richardson ended fourth with a height of 5-02.00. Richardson finished seventh in the pole vault with a height of 9-06.00.

Caitlin Fowler finished sixth in the discus throw with a distance of 110-09 while Christina Hall was seventh with a mark of 105-11.

The Scots return to action Friday with more MIAA Championship events.

 

The Alma College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team claimed its eighth consecutive regional championship at the SIFE USA Regional Competition in March 2008. The competition awards the SIFE teams that are most effective in teaching the principals of market economics through outreach projects in their communities.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
