Caitlin Fowler Throws to First Place Discus Finish

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Alma women's track and field team competed Saturday against both Calvin and Hope in Grand Rapids.

Alma lost to both Calvin and Hope. To Calvin 141-43 and to Hope 131.5-56.5.

Leading efforts for the Scots came from Caitlin Fowler, who won the discus throw with a mark of 117-07 and Natalie Cordes who won the javelin with a distance of 113-02.

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term ’08, students toured cultural sites in Argentina, studied lizards in Jamaica, analyzed World War II topics at the British National Archives in London, performed music in Italy, and examined the natural wonders of New Zealand.

Charlie Goffnett

One of the top Division III coaches in the nation, Charlie Goffnett has built the Alma women's basketball program into a national powerhouse. With three MIAA titles, five NCAA Tournament berths and one national championship under his belt, Goffnett is one of the most accomplished coaches in the nation.

Charlie Goffnett began coaching the women's golf team in 1990. As head coach, he has established a competitive program that is always on or near the top of the MIAA standings. In 1997, the Scots captured their third MIAA title under Goffnett's guidance.
