Maroon and Cream Solid in First Outdoor Meet of Season

Emily Sias notched a sixth place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:58.13 and in the 800 she was 14th with a time of 2:31.86.

Kim Sinclair was fifth in the 400 hurdles, crossing the line in 1:13.98.

In field events, Andrea Richardson finished seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 while Phoebe Renne and Sinclair tied for eighth with marks of 1.40. Richardson finished third in the pole vault with a height of 9'00.00 followed by Katie Porter with the same height.

In the 400 meter dash, Kristina Fuehring finished 11th with a time of 1:02.71. Another 11th place finish came from Tara Bjorne in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.40.

The women's 4x100 relay team finished seventh with a time of 52.39.

The Scots return to action April 1 at the Manchester Invitational in Manchester, Ind.

 

More than a third of all Alma students take part in at least one performance each year. The College offers majors in theatre, dance and music, but students of all majors may join in productions. The Remick Heritage Center for the Performing Arts is the region’s premiere performing arts facility.

 

Coach Profile

Gordon Aldrich

Gordon Aldrich was a late addition to the Alma College Coaching Staff in the summer of 2007. Coach Aldrich has joined the Alma College Family as the Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach.

During his 26 years as a varsity Boy’s and Girl’s Cross Country Coach, Aldrich has won a Girls Open State Championship (1978), a Girls State Championship (1995), two Boy’s State Championships (1994, 1997), and was Runner-up on seven other occasions. During the same time, Aldrich coached teams to 17 conference championships, was nominated for the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association Coach of the Year 12 times for cross country, and walked away with the award four times (1994, 1995, 1996, and 1998). He was also named the Boy’s Cross Country National Coach of the Year in 1999 by the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Association.

Aldrich was also honored with Michigan High School Coaches Association Track Coach of the Year in 1985 and 1998, and has received the Charles Sweeney Michigan Coaches Hall of Fame Track and Field Award.
