Alma Falls to Tri-State, Albion in Tri-Meet

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Alma College men's track and field team traveled to Angola, Ind., to square off with Tri-State and Albion over the weekend, falling to both teams. The bright spot for the Scots came as Greg Jacobs (Traverse City) won the shot put and pole vault.

Alma fell to Albion, 146-44 and to Tri-State by the narrow margin of 91-87.

Jacobs won the pole vault, hitting a mark of 13-00.00 and took shot put honors with a throw of 46-07.00. In other field events, Derek Curry (Peck) took second in the long jump with a leap of 5.87m while Jacobs rounded out his day with a second place finish in the javlelin throw. d

On the track, distance runner Joe Whitman (Davison) finished second in the 5000 meter (16:23.07) and in the 1500 meter (4:11.42).

 

Alma College students are annual high achievers in the national Model United Nations competition. Alma has received Outstanding Delegation awards in each of the last 12 years (1997 through 2008) at the world’s largest and most prestigious collegiate Model UN Conference in New York City.

Nathan Kronewetter

Alma College men’s soccer is in the process of rebuilding a once dominating program, and has made strides under the direction of Nathan Kronewetter who was hired before the 2006 season.

Kronewetter earned his bachelor of arts from Hope College in 1996 in Studio Art and continued his studies at Ohio Wesleyan University in Education. A four-year player and three-year starter for the Flying Dutchmen, he served as a senior captain in 1996. Nathan led Hope to three MIAA Championships and two NCAA playoff berths including an NCAA quarterfinal appearance in 1994.
