Alma Tops Adrian 123-38, Falls to Hope 123-64

ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College women's track and field team defeated Adrian 123-38 and fell to Hope 123-64 in action at Bahlke Stadium Wednesday (April 6).

Individually, Phoebe Renne (Rodney/Chippewa Hills) finished first in the high jump, hitting a mark of 4-10. Tara Bjorne (Manistique) took top honors in the triple jump with a leap of 32-01.00. Erin Wicker (Birmingham/Seaholm) took first in the shot put with a throw of 38-02.50 while Sarah Harrelson (Suttons Bay) won the javelin throw with a distance of 107-11.

Alma returns to action this Saturday (Apr. 9) at Angola, Ind., when the Scots face Tri-State and Albion at Noon.

 

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term ‘07 students explored important cultural sites in China, worked to restore a Jewish Holocaust cemetery in Poland, analyzed ethic politics in Scotland, and studied medieval literature in London.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
