Florida Training Trip

The Florida trip was a lot of hard work but it was a great week!  The weather was amazing and the team had a lot of fun bonding throughout the week.  We did a lot of team activities, such as charades, when the whole team was together just hanging out and having a good time.  Practices were very difficult but everyone did a great job and encouraged each other to get through them.  It was a really fun trip and we all worked really hard.

Christmas training in Florida was AMAZING this year, and the weather was SO nice.  We worked really hard and came together as a team.  I was definitely expecting to be sore while I was down there, and it happened. I think that a lot of us couldn't walk after that running work-out on tuesday...but it is all worth it in the end.  The team got along great and we did a lot of team activities that were a lot of fun and allowed us to see different sides of people.  Overall I think that the trip is and was a great experience and I cannot wait to go again next year!

Well the training trip was a lot of fun. The practices were sometimes pretty rough, but we were in Florida so no one could complain. I was quite unexperienced in salt water fishing, but Brunner and Max were excellent teachers. It was always hot outside so that was nice, and the guys in my room all had a lot of fun, and when nothing else was going on we were always stirring something up. The practices seemed to get harder as the days went on. Friday morning's workout of 30 200s was the hardest set mentally and physically that I had ever done, but after I felt good about myself for making it. All in all the Florida trip was a great time, and I cannot wait until next years trip.

If I could describe this trip with just a few words, I would use our motto: T.U.F. Tradition, Unity, and Family. The FL training trip has been a tradition here and has been full of stories, team pictures, and hard work. We unified by encouraging each other through hard sets such as those 50 100's. We also came together as a family. Bonding together as a unique group of individuals to create this crazy, outspoken, comedic, hard working family that will stop at nothing to succeed as a team. I can not explain to you how much fun this year's training trip in Florida was. The weather was gorgeous, our team grew as a family, and the work we put in is really going to pay off. I think the moment I will most remember is playing sherades with the whole team. I had to do some convincing to get everyone to play, but in the end, everyone had a blast! Since Coach made up all of the sherades sayings we had to act out, there were a couple that were a little dated, and it made the evening that much more fun. "Gander Mountain Guide Professional Fishing Shirt" was one of the top contenders of the night.

Alma College received a $150,000 grant from the National Science Foundation in August 2009 for research that could eventually lead to the development of more effective drugs to treat and prevent certain kinds of influenza, including human infections of swine and avian flu. "This project provides an opportunity for students to get involved in important laboratory research," says faculty member Jeff Turk, principal investigator.
