Saturday's Final Results
The Men's and Women's MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships came to an end tonight at Jenison High School.

First, on the women's side the Scots saw junior Emily Smith turn in a solid performance in the 200 yard breaststroke finishing in twelfth place with a time of 2:37.19.  The women also saw sophomore Sara Swanton turn in a great performance of 2:23.93, which shaved four seconds off of her preliminary time, in the women's 200 yard butterfly. Swanton's time placed her in eleventh place.

In the women's 1650 yard freestyle the Scots saw Sara Swanton, Caylee Coe, and Kelly Marks all swim hard but couldn't manage to finish any higher then fourteenth. Swanton claimed that spot when she turned in a time of 19:12.46, Coe finished fifteenth with a time of 19:21.15, and Marks twenty-second at 22:26.59.

The women didn't see anyone qualify for the final round in the 100-yard freestyle but several Scots did their best.  The highest placement in this event was by that of freshman Sarah Anderson, who finished seventeenth and had a team best time of 57.14.  Lora Trzeciak finished twenty-fifth with a time of 59:64.  Nichole McCarthy, Elaina Paulson, Kelly Marks, and Geri Gaskell all finished within seconds of each other and recorded times of 1:02.74, 1:02.91, 1:03.12, and 1:05.92 respectively.

Going into the 1 meter diving event the Scots saw Elaina Paulson, Ivyrose Hess, and Baliy Buyak comppete hard but couldn't manage to get anyone into the final round.  In the second to last event of the long weekend the women ended their competition by sending the team of Emily Smith, Caylee Coe, Lora Trzeciak, and Sarah Anderson to do their best in the 400-yard freestyle relay.  The team did well but finished seventh with a time of 3:52.72.

On the men's side the team  saw solid effort from many individuals as well.  In the 200-yard backstroke, the Maroon and Cream were led by Spencer Johnson.  Johnson did fail to qualify for the final round but finished just one place short with a time of 2:04.75.

Sophomore Anderson Minnick turned in a good time of 55.12 in the men's 100-yard freestyle but failed to qualify for the finals as well.  The Scots saw Matt Davis give a valiant effort in trying to qualify for the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:13.55 but, like many of his teammates, wasn't able to.

To end the 2006-2007 swimming and diving season the men competed in the 400-yard freestyle relay.  Despite the fact the team of Brent Gostomski, Spencer Johnson, Lucas Livingston, and Corey White improved their time from the preliminaries they were unable to finish any higher then sixth place in the event.  The teams' finishing time was 3:24.34.

The Alma College Men's team ended their season by finishing in sixth place while the women ended theirs by placing seventh.
