ALMA CF KELLY KOENIGSKNECHT NAMED THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICAN
Alma College’s Kelly Koenigsknecht was named to the Louisville
Slugger/NFCA Division III All-American Third Team. The announcement was
made on Thursday night at a banquet leading up to the Division III
Championships at Montclair St. (NJ) University.
Koenigsknecht, a sophomore center fielder from Fowler, MI/Fowler,
batted .371 on the year and led the team with 53 hits. She had four
doubles, one homerun and 15 RBI’s. She also stole 27 bases (on 31
attempts), which placed her in the top ten of the country for much of
the season.
Koenigsknecht started all 42 of the Scots’ games during the 2009
campaign and she finished with just nine strikeouts at the plate in 143
opportunities. She also possessed great range on the defensive side of
the ball at the center field position.
