SOFTBALL: 2008 Post Season Awards

Alma, Mich.- The Alma College Softball Team had their end of the year banquet last night to celebrate another outstanding season and to honor their standout players. During the event, the following awards were given out:

Team Awards

Most Valuable Player - Missy Morcom and Amy Gaudard

Most Improved Player - Kelly Koenigsknecht

Golden Glove Award - Kasey Miller and Brittany Fales

Clutch Award - Amy Gaudard

Rookie of the Year - Tara Leddy

Batting Champion - Missy Morcom

Coaches Award - Sarah Seals

Dr. Joe Walser Award - Lianna Easterby


 

 

 

The memory and spiritual ideals of the late Bishop Thomas Makarios remain alive in a figurative sculpture that was dedicated in May 2009 near the center of campus. The Bishop, professor of religious studies at Alma for 25 years, was founder of the American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church of India and the first Metropolitan Bishop of Canada, United Kingdom and Europe, and South Africa.

Dennis Griffin

Dennis Griffin

Denny Griffin is heading into his 27th year at Alma College and his 20th at the helm of the Scots softball program. He moved into the head softball coaching position in 1989 after two years as assistant coach. His teams have never fallen lower than third place in conference standings and 12 of his last 14 teams have qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to his softball duties, Griffin is the program director for the Athletic Training Education Program. He teaches first aid/CPR and sports medicine classes in the Exercise and Health Science Department.
