SOFTBALL: Scots Fall to Wartburg, 4-0

May 8, 2008

The Alma College Softball Team (25-12) took on Wartburg College (30-6) in the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament and were held two just two hits on their way to the 4-0 loss.

Despite the four runs scored against Alma pitcher Katie Koechling (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North), the game was truly dominated by the pitchers as the Warburg pitcher threw a complete game two hitter and Koechling allowed only seven hits whlie striking out four. The difference in the game were the two two run homers that came off the bat of the Wartburg secondbaseman and led the Knights to the 4-0 win.

For the Scots, the only two hits of the game came off the bats of senior Missy Morcom (Chelsea) and freshman Kelly Koenigsknecht (Fowler) who each went one for three on the day.

Box Score

The Maroon and Cream will need to get their offense going as they take on Coe College, who was defeated today by UW-Whitewater 9-1, at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow.
