SOFTBALL: Winter Camps Announced

2008 ALMA COLLEGEWINTER FASTPITCH SOFTBALL CAMP

JANUARY 13 & 20, 2008

The purpose of the camp is to develop the fundamentals of the game of softball.  Lectures and drill work will help the player in their individual development of throwing, catching, hitting, and base running.  The goal of the camp is to have fun while learning the game of fast pitch softball.  The camp will be held at the Stone Recreation Center on the Alma College campus.  The session will include players in grades 6-12, but campers will be grouped according to age and skill level. The price includes both days of instruction.

SESSION TIME
11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

COST:         $75.00 per camper, includes both dates and camp T-shirt

REGISTRATION:     Send form and check, payable to Alma College, to
                   Alma College Softball, 614 West Superior, Alma, MI 48801
                   No later than Friday, January 11, 2008.

EQUIPMENT:     Campers must bring their own glove and tennis shoes that are not black soled. This helps prevent black marks on the floor! They may also want to bring a bat they are comfortable with!

The purpose of the camp is to develop the fundamentals of pitching fast pitch softball.  Individual instruction, drill work, and videotaping will help the player in their progress.    The goal of the camp is to have fun while learning the skills to pitch in fast pitch softball and will include development of a full variety of pitches. The camp will be held at the Stone Recreation Center on the Alma College campus.  This session will include players in grades 6-12. The price includes both days of instruction.

SESSION TIME
2:00 p.m. To 3:00 p.m.

COST:         $35.00 per camper, includes both dates and camp T-shirt

REGISTRATION:     Send form and check, payable to Alma College, to
                   Alma College Softball, 614 West Superior, Alma, MI 48801
                  No later than Friday, January 11, 2008

Dennis Griffin

Dennis Griffin

Denny Griffin is heading into his 26th year at Alma College and his 20th at the helm of the Scots softball program. He moved into the head softball coaching position in 1989 after two years as assistant coach. His teams have never fallen lower than third place in conference standings and 12 of his last 14 teams have qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to his softball duties, Griffin is the program director for the Athletic Training Education Program. He teaches first aid/CPR and sports medicine classes in the Exercise and Health Science Department.
