Missy Morcom Named MIAA Player of the Week

Alma sophomore Missy Morcom of Chelsea (Chelsea HS) batted .529 (9-for-17) as the Scots posted four conference wins and 5-1 overall. Splitting time between centerfield and second base as the team's leadoff hitter, she did not commit an error in 16 chances. Her hits included three doubles and a home run with two RBIs and two stolen bases. She also walked five times and did not strike out.

She has started all 20 games this season, leading the Scots to a 15-5 overall record and a 4-0 mark in league play. She leads the team in home runs with four and runs scored with 20. This is the first MIAA weekly honor of her career.

Alma College is one of eight Michigan colleges and universities — and one of 270 out of 4,411 colleges and universities in the nation, or 6 percent — to hold membership in The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honors organization.
