Strong Hitting Leads Scots To Sweep of Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Alma College softball put together strong back-to-back games to improve to 9-3 on the season with 7-2 and 3-0 wins against Wittenberg Sunday (Mar. 19). Paced by sophomore Amy Gaudard (Mt. Pleasant) who went 5-for-8 on the day and solid pitching efforts from Kay McDonald (Rosebush/Mt. Pleasant) and Katie Koechling (Wheaton, Ill./North) the Scots picked up two more wins.

In game one, the Scots were anchored by McDonald's arm as she struck out five and walked two. Alyssa Gooch (Charlotte) came in to pitch the seventh inning, allowing one earned run and and another unearned to finish Wittenberg scoring for the game.

Alma scoring came with two runs in the first, another in the fourth and two more in the fifth and again in the sixth inning. Gaudard went 2-for-4 at the plate, with two doubles and two RBI.
