Denny Griffin Receives Easton Victory Club Award at NFCA Convention

ORLANDO, Fla. - Alma softball head coach Denny Griffin was presented an Easton Victory Club award Dec. 1 at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Convention in Orlando, Florida. In leading Alma to its ninth consecutive MIAA title in 2005 and a 33-10 overall record, Griffin picked up his 500th victory. His career record now stands at 529-169 for a .758 winning percentage.

Griffin was one of 175 coaches in all of fastpitch softball honored for reaching victory milestones in the last year. The Easton Victory Club luncheon honored Griffin as well as LSU’s Yvette Girouard and Bloomsburg’s Jan Hutchinson who reached the 1,000-win milestone while Robert Wenk of Case Batbusters achieved the 1,400-win plateau for travel ball coaches.

Griffin returns to Alma where he and the Scots begin the 2006 campaign Feb. 26-Mar. 3 at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, Fla.

More than 100 Alma College students and staff traveled to destinations in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi for service projects during winter break in February 2008. Alternative Break service experiences continue to gain popularity on Alma College’s campus,” says Sallie Scheide, assistant director in the Center for Responsible Leadership.
