SCOTS MEN'S TENNIS ENJOYS GOOD DAY AT BLUFFTON UNIVERSITY

The Alma College Men's Tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday knocking off Adrian College 7-2, and host Bluffton University 9-0.  Sr. Dan Fraser, and So. Kace Lovejoy, both went 4-0 on the day, winning both of their singles matches at #1 and #2 singles, respectively, and teamed up at #1 doubles to pick up two more wins.  The same went for Fr. Mark Stuart and and So. Zach Kerr, who brought home two wins a piece at #3 and #4 singles, and then teamed up at #2 doubles for two more.  Jr. Rob VanDorin, notched two singles victories at #6 singles as well.

The Scots are now 9-5  on the season, and travel to Jackson this Saturday for a triangular with Spring Arbor and Huntington.  After that, the Scots travel to Battle Creek for the annual Thunder Doubles Tournament hosted by Trine University.  The Scots were tournament champions in 2008.

Chris Hamstra

Chris Hamstra

Coach Hamstra graduated from Hope College in 2004 with a B.A. in Accounting. During his time at Hope, Hamstra was a four year student-athlete, received All-MIAA honors and was also named to the All-American team. Hamstra was also a member of MIAA Championship teams and brings that winning attitude and work ethic to his new position.

After graduation, Hamstra served as an assistant coach for Hope’s Swimming and Diving Program under Dr. John Patnott. Hamstra credits Dr. Patnott with helping him to understand the science of swimming and also the importance of season long work out plans. “As an assistant in his program, I was given the freedom to implement my own workouts into the system, providing me with insight into what it takes to develop season long plans.”
