MEN'S TENNIS: Scots Beat TSU 7-2

In their final tune-up before the MIAA tournament, the Maroon and Cream grabbed the number two through six singles and the number two and three doubles to yskr the 7-2 conference win over Tri-State University.

With the win, the Scots improve to 11-5 overall and 2-4 in conference play. "Tri-State has a really nice team and to go in there and get the win in our final match before the tournament was big for us," commented Head Coach Chris Sandro.

Results

 

Alma now finds itself in the five seed, setting up a match with Hope College in the first round of the tournament. "Hope is a tough match up for us, but we have a solid team this year and should be able to give them a run," added Sandro.

Alma’s “green” residence hall, Wright Hall, was completed in January 2005. The modern, 60-bed apartment-style hall features a number of environmentally friendly features, including geothermal heating and cooling, recycled-content ceiling tiles and carpeting, energy-efficient windows, rooftop solar heating panels, energy-efficient showers and washing machines, and a computerized energy monitoring system.

Jeff Hosler '02 joined the Alma College Athletics staff as the Scots women's soccer coach in 2006 and has helped the Maroon and Cream rise as one of the most talented young teams in the MIAA.

In his time at Alma, Hosler became one of the best players in the 30 years of Scots soccer. He remains the all-time assists leader and ranks in the top ten in career goals and in the top five in career points. He helped the Scots to their second MIAA title, first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 1999 en route to first team All-MIAA and third team All-Mideast Region honors. He would go on to earn first team All-MIAA accolades again in 2001 and was named to the conference's second team in 2000.
