MEN'S TENNIS: Scots Take Second at GRCC Quad Tournament

The Alma College Men's Tennis Team participated in the Grand Rapids Community College Quad Tournament and came home with a second place finish.

Dan Fraser (Lexington/Croswell-Lexington) and Alex Montoye (Mt. Pleasant) paired up to win the #3 doubles tier, winning both of their matches and and earning two of the Maroon and Cream points.

Montoye also brought home the #6 singles tier, and Kace Lovejoy (Traverse City/West) won the #5 tier.

In the more than 100 years since its founding, Alma has stayed true to its roots by keeping its Scottish heritage alive. Today, Alma features a marching band clad in Kilts, a Scottish dance troupe, student pipers and its own tartan. Each year, the College hosts the Alma Highland Festival and Games, which feature traditional Scottish games and revelry.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
