MEN'S TENNIS: Results From Alma vs. Kzoo Dual Match

Feb. 9, 2008

The Scots traveled to Kalamazoo  today to take on the #16 Nationally ranked and #6 team in the region, the Kalamazoo College Hornets, and fell by the score 9-0 in a dual match that was much closer than the final score showed.

Although the Hornets took several of the matches by a large margin, the Scots' Kace Lovejoy (Traverse City/West), playing as the number five single, forced a tie breaker set in his match and the Maroon and Cream's number three doubles team, Dan Fraser (Lexington/Croswell-Lexington) and Alex Montoye (Mt. Pleasant), also took their talented Kzoo team to a tie-breaker set.

Head Coach Chris Sandro was pleased with his team's performance in their MIAA opener. "To walk in there and take on the #16 team in the nation this early on in the year and compete that hard, it really showed me what kind of team we have. We could have easily walked out of there with a 7-2 score. Even though we lost 9-0, this is definately something we can build on and a sign things are heading in the righ direction."

The Scots will travel to Albion, Mi. next Saturday, Feb. 16th, to take on the Albion College Brits with a start time of 11:00 a.m.
