MEN'S TENNIS: Scots Open Season With 6-3 Win Over GRCC

Feb. 4, 2008

Alma, Mi.- The 2008 season started out well for the Scots as they welcomed Grand Rapids Community College to Alma for a dual match that saw the Scots come away with a 6-3 win.

The Scots' 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th singles along with their 2nd and 3rd doubles all won to spur the Maroon and Cream on to the win.

Alma's #1 single, Josh Sanders (Warren/Fitzgerald), lost his match in three sets (6-7, 7-6, 7-6) that all had to be decided in tie-breakers. Head Coach Chris Sandro commented, "I have never seen two players at this level play so well and have all three sets go to tie-breaker. It was very impressive."

The Scots have a week to prepare before traveling to Kalamazoo to take on the perenial MIAA powerhouse, Kalamazoo Hornets. The Match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
