What a Sweep! Scots Open Weekend With Wins Against Wabash, Huntington

The Alma College men's tennis team opened the season over the weekend, defeating both Wabash and Huntington successively. The Scots began the Indiana trip with a 5-4 win against Wabash and followed it up with a 6-3 victory against Huntington.

Last season, Alma fell to Wabash 7-2 and saw wins at one and two singles from Ahmet Demir and current sophomore Dan Fraser.

Fraser picked up another victory for the Scots this season, defeating Adam VanZee 6-7 (3-7), 6-0, 6-1. For full Wabash results, click here.

The Huntington College match saw Huntington pick up a win at one doubles as Chris Noel and Dan Fraser were defeated by Tyler Moore and Brian Lambright 9-7. But wins at two and three doubles gave the Scots an early edge heading into singles matches.

Noel and Fraser continued the losing skid in individual matches with Noel falling to Tyler Moore 6-0, 6-1 at one singles and Fraser losing to Mitchell McDonald in a hard fought battle  7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-0). But the Scots rallied to win at three, four, five and six singles. Josh Sanders, Alex Montoye, Tom Hardin and Brett Seymoure won at each spot, respectively.

Alma returns to action this Saturday (Feb. 10) when it hosts Grand Rapids Community College at 12 p.m. in the Stone Recreation Center.
