SCOTLAND YARD NEWS: A Special Thanks From Coach Kronewetter

17 September 2007

To Whom This May Concern,

I am writing to acknowledge the extreme generosity that was shown to our soccer program by the Delaware Kiwanis Club during the Ohio Wesleyan University Adidas Invitational.  On Saturday, September 8, we were scheduled to play Ohio Wesleyan at 7:30 pm and then return home to Alma, Michigan later that evening.  Due to a severe thunderstorm, it was not possible to play the game that night.  We were able to reschedule the match for the following morning at nearby Wellington High School, but without the generous donations of the Kiwanis Club it would not have been possible for us to afford our meals that night and the following day.  The Kiwanis Club assisted in covering these expenses and in doing so made it possible for us to stay an extra evening and play the game the following morning.

I coached off and on at Ohio Wesleyan University for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs for the last 8 years and was fortunate enough during that time to work closely with several members of the Delaware Kiwanis Club.  I’ve always known them to be a generous group that is more than happy to go out of their way to help when an opportunity presents itself.  The generosity they showed our soccer program during the Adidas Invitational is merely testament to this fact.

The Kiwanis Club is about changing the world one child and one community at a time.  This past weekend they did just that, and we were fortunate enough to be the beneficiaries of their kindness.  From everyone associated with the Alma College Men’s Soccer Program, I would like to extend a sincere thanks to the Delaware Kiwanis Club for helping us through a difficult situation and ensuring that our weekend was a success.

Kindest Regards,

Nathan Kronewetter
Head Coach, Alma Men’s Soccer

The Alma College Percussion Ensemble performed at the prestigious Centrum Jazz Festival, an international festival in Port Townsend, Wash., in July 2007. Alma was the only college group invited to perform. “It’s a huge honor,” says faculty director Dave Zerbe. “You can’t apply to perform there; they seek you out.”
