Alma College men's soccer is entering its third season under the direction of Nathan Kronewetter. Originally from Delaware, Ohio, Kronewetter now resides in Alma.

Kronewetter graduated from Hayes High School where he played four years of soccer. During his high school playing days, he was selected to the Mid-West Team USA and travelled to Europe to play in interantional youth tournaments. About the experience, Kronewetter said, 'It was an awesome opportunity and I hope that someday we will be able to take Alma College soccer players on international trips so they can see what the game looks like in other parts of the world.'

Kronewetter earned his bachelor of arts from Hope College in 1996 in Studio Art and continued his studies at Ohio Wesleyan University in Education. A four-year player and three-year starter for the Flying Dutchmen, he served as a senior captain in 1996. Nathan led Hope to three MIAA Championships and two NCAA playoff berths including an NCAA quarterfinal appearance in 1994. While at Hope, Kronewetter was fortunate to take a second team trip to Europe with soccer; an experience that cemented his view on the benefits of a team playing abroad.

He went on to play for the USISL Grand Rapids Explosion for two years, three months in Stockholm, Sweden for a local Swedish club, several Midwestern club teams over the years and most recently a guest player for Independiente Tandil and Grupo Universitario Tandil for six months in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

While in Argentina, Kronewetter spent time as a guest coach and guest observer with Boca Juniors and River Plate Clubs in Buenos Aires. Currently he has direct relations with several clubs in Buenos Aires which may in the future provide opportunites for team trips to South America.

Later, Nathan joined the Ohio Wesleyan coaching staff as a graduate student assistant. During the following years he became a regular assistant coach for both the men's and women's teams specializing in technical and tactical training. Kronewetter was with the men's program when they won the National Championship in 1998.

From there, Kronewetter became the head coach of the University of Colorado's men's soccer team, which at that time was a club team. The year Kronewetter spent in Colorado was productive as their team qualified for the Elite 8 Club Tournament and finished in the top ten in the nation.

Following that season, former Alma College Coach Jeff Bateson approached Kronewetter and asked him to join his coaching staff at Alma. Knowing the toughness and energy that had made Alma College a hated and respected rival during his playing days at Hope, Kronewetter was excited by the opportunity to join the Alma Soccer family.
While with Alma, he served two seasons as an assistant as the Scots finished second in the MIAA in 2000 and fourth in 2001, compiling an overall record of 19-19-2 and an MIAA record of 14-8-2.

Following the 2001 season, Kronewetter returned to OWU where he was a part of the second of back to back National Championships won by the women's program. In 2006 Kronewetter returned to Alma and took on the head coaching job and the charge to return Alma College men's soccer to where it had been during his college playing days.

Additionally, Kronewetter has served as director at many camps throughout the Midwest region and western mountain states. He holds a national coaching license with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Alma College has phenomenal 90 percent placement rates into medical and law schools, compared to a national average of 46.6 percent for medical school placement.
