Alma Men's Soccer plays to a 1-1 stalemate at Albion College

Alma's Men's Soccer team went to Albion on Saturday afternoon and fought the Britons to a 1-1 draw that gave the Scots a 1-14-3 record in 2009 (0-11-1), while Albion is now 8-9-1 on the season and 6-5-1 in league play. The Scots continue action on Wednesday when they host Adrian College at Scotland Yard at 3:00 p.m.

On Saturday, Albion's David Garr scored at the 40:38 mark to give the home team a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. The Scots responded at 52:54 when Senior Midfielder Santi Lopez (Midland, MI/Dow scored on a unassisted goal to make the score 1-1.

The two teams played through the second half and two overtimes, but to no avail, and the contest ended in the 1-1 tie. Alma Junior Goalkeeper Jon Nowak finished with three saves on the day, while Albion Goalkeeper completed his afternoon with two saves.

Nathan Kronewetter

Alma College men’s soccer is in the process of rebuilding a once dominating program, and has made strides under the direction of Nathan Kronewetter who was hired before the 2006 season.

Kronewetter earned his bachelor of arts from Hope College in 1996 in Studio Art and continued his studies at Ohio Wesleyan University in Education. A four-year player and three-year starter for the Flying Dutchmen, he served as a senior captain in 1996. Nathan led Hope to three MIAA Championships and two NCAA playoff berths including an NCAA quarterfinal appearance in 1994.
