Scots Men's Soccer travels to Trine and loses 2-0 to the Thunder

The Scots Men's Soccer team played at Trine University this afternoon and dropped a 2-0 decision to the Thunder. Alma is now 1-13-2 overall in 2009 and 0-10 in the MIAA, while Trine improved to 6-8-1 this season and 4-5 in the league.

Both goals for Trine came in the first half, as Kramer Pursell scored unassisted at the 12:36 mark, and Curtis Holcom dented the net on an assist by Foster Webb at 25:35. The Thunder took that 2-0 lead into halftime and rode it out for the win at the end of the day.

Alma outshot Trine 12-10 on the afternoon, including six to five in shots on goal, but were not able to beat the Thunder's GK Cory Sarason. GK Jon Nowak played all 90 minutes for the Scots, who next host Hope College on Tuesday afternoon at Scotland Yard. The match begins at 4:00 p.m.

Today's match was originally scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Trine's soccer pitch, but because of wet weather, it was moved to the Thunder's football facility. So, the teams played on turf and under the lights in this MIAA tilt.

The Alma College Percussion Ensemble performed at the prestigious Centrum Jazz Festival, an international festival in Port Townsend, Wash., in July 2007. Alma was the only college group invited to perform. "It's a huge honor," says faculty director Dave Zerbe. "You can't apply to perform there; they seek you out."
