Alma Men's Soccer falls at Adrian 4-1

The Alma Men's Soccer team traveled to Adrian on Saturday afternoon for a league match, but came up on the short end of a 4-1 score. The loss drops the Scots to 1-9-2 overall (0-6 MIAA), while the Bulldogs improved to 5-5-2 (2-2-2 MIAA) in 2009.

Adrian scored first at the 14:45 mark of the first half on an unassisted goal by LaTwayne Anderson. The goal went into the net off of a deflection. The Scots responded quickly however, as MF Andrew Waligorski scored unassisted on a direct free kick. The goal came just 1:50 after the Adrian tally and tied the game at 1-1. The Bulldogs scored the only other goal of the first half as Cazz Warren knocked a shot into the upper left corner of the net at 38:54, giving the host team a 2-1 advantage at halftime.

The Bulldogs' Warren stole the show in the second half as he tallied the only goals of the final half. He scored on a breakaway at 51:41 and then another one at 59:49 on a goal assisted by Anderson. The scores gave the home team the final 4-1 margin of victory.

For the afternoon, Alma had 15 shots (seven SOG), while Adrian finished the day with 16 shots (10 SOG). Matt Kuberski led the way with two shots on goal for the Scots, but Adrian GK Alex Pavlika stopped six of seven for the win. Alma GK Jon Nowak finished with five saves for the game.

The Scots next play at Calvin College in another MIAA tilt on Tuesday afternoon, with the match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
