Scots Men's Soccer drops tough 1-0 decision to league foe Albion College

The Alma Men's Soccer team hosted MIAA rival Albion College on Wednesday afternoon and dropped a tough 1-0 decision to the visiting Britons. The Scots are now 1-8-2 (0-5 MIAA) on the season, while Albion traveled home with a record of 4-7 (2-3) in 2009.

The Scots had eight shots on the afternoon, with three being on goal. Santi Lopez had two of those, while Dirk Roskam had the other for Alma. The Britons also had eight shots on goal and had four of them reach the net. Alma GK Jon Nowak stopped three of them, but could not get his arms around the goal that made the difference in the game.

Albion's Jordan Marchewka got his head on a crossing pass from Andy Bieber in the 68th minute to lift the road team to a 1-0 victory over Alma. Neither team had many scoring opportunities in the tightly contested game and Briton GK Jordan Thomas collected three saves in gaining the shutout.

The Scots next play Saturday afternoon when they travel to Adrian College for another MIAA contest. The match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
