ALMA MEN'S SOCCER FALLS 2-1 TO VISITING TRINE UNIVERSITY

The Alma College Men's Soccer team continued its 2009 league schedule on Wednesday, when they hosted Trine University on a windy and cool Mid-Michigan afternoon at Scotland Yard. The Thunder defeated the Scots by a score of 2-1, dropping Alma to 1-6-2 (0-3 MIAA) on the season, while the visitors improved to 4-5 (1-2 MIAA) in 2009.

The first half was scoreless as each team had seven shots towards the net, with Trine having three on goal and Alma one. Overall for the contest, Trine had 16 total shots (six SOG), while the Scots had 14 (four SOG).

The Thunder grabbed a 1-0 lead at 56:21, when Kramer Pursell scored on a header assisted by Sean Sullivan. Trine made it 2-0 when Foster Webb tallied a goal at the 75:43 mark, assisted by Ferri Adeiji, giving the visitors a lead that appeared safe.

However, less than one minute later, Alma's Santi Lopez scored on a pass from Justin Severance to cut the lead to 2-1 at 76:38. The Scots played relentless ball the rest of the way, but could not dent the net and walked off the pitch with another tough defeat.

Alma resumes play on Saturday, when they travel to Holland, MI, to take on league rival Hope College. Start time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
