MEN'S S0CCER DROPS 2-1 DECISION TO ADRIAN

The Alma Men's Soccer team traveled to Adrian College on Saturday, and fell by a score of 2-1 to the host Bulldogs on a crisp and clear fall afternoon. The Scots are now 1-7 in the MIAA (2-11 overall), while Adrian upped their league record to 2-6 and 4-9 overall.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring when MF Luke Dillenburger scored on a goal at the 10:24 mark of the first half on a tally that was assisted by MF Joey Flater. Alma tied the score 1:15 into the second frame (46:15) when M/F Mark Daisy (Mt. Pleasant, MI) scored an unassisted goal to make the game 1-1.

Adrian tallied the decisive goal at the 77:05 point of the game when MF Jared Roan scored unassisted to give the Bulldogs the victory. The shots for the game were tied at 12 (three SOG for Alma and seven SOG for Adrian) with Daisy leading the way for the Scots (six, two SOG), and F Santi Lopez (Midland, MI) added five shots and one SOG.

GK Anthony Bergstrom (St. John's, MI) had five saves for the Scots, who next play on Wednesday, when they travel to play the MIAA rival Calvin Knights. Start time for the game has been moved up to 3:30 to accommodate an on-campus event.

 

 

Alma College's teacher preparation program has received an "exemplary" rating following a comprehensive review by the Michigan Department of Education.

Nathan Kronewetter

Alma College men’s soccer is in the process of rebuilding a once dominating program, and has made strides under the direction of Nathan Kronewetter who was hired before the 2006 season.

Kronewetter earned his bachelor of arts from Hope College in 1996 in Studio Art and continued his studies at Ohio Wesleyan University in Education. A four-year player and three-year starter for the Flying Dutchmen, he served as a senior captain in 1996. Nathan led Hope to three MIAA Championships and two NCAA playoff berths including an NCAA quarterfinal appearance in 1994.
