ALMA MEN'S SOCCER BESTS KALAMAZOO 1-0

The Alma Men's Soccer team ended a frustrating losing streak in dramatic fashion on Wednesday when they defeated visiting MIAA rival Kalamazoo College, 1-0, at Scotland Yard on a soggy Fall afternoon in Mid-Michigan. The win improved the Scots to 1-4 in league play and 2-9 overall, while the Hornets fell to 1-4 in MIAA action and 4-6 overall.

M Steve Lux (Alma, MI) knocked in a rebound off a penalty shot by M/F Mark Daisy (Mt. Pleasant, MI) at the 88:05 mark of the contest to give the Scots an improbable victory against Kalamazoo.

For the game, the Hornets notched 17 shots (seven on goal), while Alma finished with seven shots, five being on net. Lux and Daisy led the Scots with two shots on goal each, while GK Jon Nowak saved all seven Kalamazoo shots on goal to notch the shutout.

Alma next plays on Saturday when the Scots host another MIAA rival, Olivet College, at Scotland Yard. The start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
