MEN'S SOCCER: Scots Quiet the Thunder, Win 2-0

Oct. 17, 2007

Alma, Mi. - The Alma College Men's Soccer team defeated Tri-State today by the score of 2-0, improving to 4-9-2 on the season and eclipsing their win total from 2006.

The Scots dominated the ball for the entire game but struggled to get good looks in the first half and took the 0-0 tie into the break. The second half was a whole different story as the Scots got multiple good looks at the goal and found the back of the net twice, taking home the 2-0 victory.

Alma's first goal came in the 56th minute as Santiago Lopez (Midland/Dow) drove the ball deep in the zone and found Mark Daisy (Mt. Pleasant/Mt.Pleasant) on a beautiful cross for a ridiculous header into the top right back post. The goal was Daisy's seventh of the year.

Kevin Cross (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) distributed the ball well today for the Scots and found Daisy for his second goal of the day and eighth of the season, off of a free kick.

Freshman goalkeeper Anthony Bergstrom (St. Johns/St. Johns) also played very well, silencing every Thunder rally with one outstanding save after another.

The Scots next travel to Kalamazoo to take on the Hornets. The game is schedule to begin at 2:00 p.m.
