MEN'S SOCCER: Scots Battle the Rain and the Hornets, Lose 1-3

Sept. 25, 2007 - In a game that saw three delays because of lightning and a early end in the 82nd minute due to darkness, the Scots fell to conference foe Kalamazoo College by the score 1-3.

The Scots fell behind 0-1 in the first half before tying the score behind a Dan Laatz (Cedar Springs/Cedar Springs) goal in the 57th minute. However, the Hornets scattered to more goals between the lightning delays and pulled out the 3-1 win.

The Scots played well all game and had lots of good looks at the goal but couldn't find the back of the net. Junior standout Mark Daisy (Mt. Pleasant/Mt. Pleasant) had several chances with six shots in the game, but like the rest of the Scots, was not able to convert.

Freshman Anthony Bergstrom (St. Johns/St. Johns) played the entire game in the goal for the Scots and recorded six saves, while allowing three goals to the very tough Kalamazoo squad.

With the loss the Scots move to 1-1-1 in conference play and will face off against Calvin College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
