MEN'S SOCCER: Scots Tie Rochester 1-1

The Alma Men's Soccer team traveled to Rochester College today in search of their first win this season. They didn't come home with a win, but didn't walk away with the loss either as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Scots only goal in the game came in second period when junior Mark Daisy (Mt. Pleasant/Mt. Pleasant) took a beautiful cross on a free kick from Kevin Cross (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and found the back of the net with a header. The goal marked the first of the young season for the Scots who have been playing an excruciating non-conference schedule aimed to prepare the young team for their MIAA competition.

Anthony Bergstrom (St. Johns/St. Johns) played all 110 minutes in the goal for the Scots and made seven saves to protect the 1-1 tie.

The Scots have their home opener this Sunday as they will host Holy Cross College at Scotland Yard. The game is schedule to begin at 3 p.m.

Alma College is one of eight Michigan colleges and universities — and one of 270 out of 4,411 colleges and universities in the nation, or 6 percent — to hold membership in The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honors organization.
