Drew Hanley Forces Overtime With 32 Seconds In Game, Scots Fall to Albion 2-1

Box Score

ALMA, Mich.
- Alma men's soccer ended the season Saturday (Nov. 4) with a 2-1 heartbreaker to the conference's second place team, Albion. Alma ends the season 3-14-1 overall and 2-12 in league play with today's 2-1 loss.

Albion scored first with a David Know goal in the 35th minute of play. Alma goalkeeper James Thomson (Lachine/Alpena) made spectacular saves on the day, and even on that ball, but the rebound dribbled past Thomson and gave the Brits a 1-0 advantage.

It took some time, but the Scots answered back...with 32 seconds remaining in regulation. Senior Drew Hanley (Memphis) in his final appearance for the Maroon and Cream managed to capitalize on Alma's second consecutive corner kick, taken by Ben Queen (Royal Oak/Shrine). With just a few seconds remaining, the team's headed to overtime.

But it was Albion that scored in the eighth minute of overtime and the 98th minute of the game when Know again found the back of the net, this time with the assist coming from Justin Friedman.

The Corporation for National and Community Service named Alma College to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll With Distinction for exemplary service efforts and service to disadvantaged youth. The Honor Roll is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement.
