Hope Flies Past Scots 4-0 at Scotland Yard

ALMA, Mich. - Alma's men's soccer team lost to Hope College 4-0 Wednesday at Scotland Yard despite Mark Daisy's (Mt. Pleasant) best efforts, launching eight shots against a potent Flying Dutchmen offense.

Though Hope got four goals past Alma keeper James Thomson (Lachine/Alpena), he made 10 stellar saves in 90 minutes with 29 total shots and 14 on goal. The Scots landed just six shots on goal and 10 total shots for the day.

Alma was down just 1-0 at the half but the Flying Dutchmen scored three more goals in the second half to end the game at 4-0.

Alma is now 2-12-1 on the season and 1-10 in MIAA action.

 

Alma College students report levels of educational experiences and faculty interaction that exceed the national norms by significant amounts, according to the findings of the 2007 National Survey of Student Engagement. In the 2006 study, Alma students reported a level of interaction with faculty that ranked among the top five percent in the nation.

Nathan Kronewetter

Alma College men’s soccer is in the process of rebuilding a once dominating program, and has made strides under the direction of Nathan Kronewetter who was hired before the 2006 season.

Kronewetter earned his bachelor of arts from Hope College in 1996 in Studio Art and continued his studies at Ohio Wesleyan University in Education. A four-year player and three-year starter for the Flying Dutchmen, he served as a senior captain in 1996. Nathan led Hope to three MIAA Championships and two NCAA playoff berths including an NCAA quarterfinal appearance in 1994.
