Scots Give Kronewetter First MIAA Win of 2006

ALMA, Mich. - Alma College men's soccer picked up its first win in conference play with a 4-1 victory against Adrian College at Scotland Yard Saturday.

Captain Mark Daisy (Mt. Pleasant) scored two gaols on four shots to lead the Maroon and Cream to its first MIAA win - and second overall this season.
Daisy opened scoring in the 10th minute on the assist from Dave Korte (Haslett). It took 20 more minutes, but Ben Queen (Royal Oak/Shrine) scored on a perfectly placed ball by freshman Lee Ireland (Midland). Kevin Cross (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) then scored unassisted just five minutes into the second half before Mark Daisy scored again, this time when Dan Weidman's (Caseville/Elkton-Pigeon-Bayport) shot rebounded and Daisy converted. In the 76th minute, Adrian found the net when freshman keeper James Thomson (Lachine/Alpena) came out of the net to play the ball and Brian Bain was able to get a foot on the ball, directing it to the back of the net to make the score its final 4-1.

The Scots are now 2-11-1 on the season and 1-9-0 in MIAA play. They return to action Oct. 24 when they host Hope College at Scotland Yard.

Alma College is among the six percent of all colleges and universities in the nation to hold membership in The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honors organization.
